The JCC Academic Center offers private tutor quality and results at a fraction of the cost. Our SAT, ACT, SAT II, Regents prep and Writing Skills programs are designed to help high school students reach their greatest academic potential. Our classes are small, allowing for individualized attention and are led by dynamic, experienced instructors.

SAT/PSAT PREP
Be prepared for the SAT and PSAT! Our highly experienced, expert faculty will guide students through the new test, giving them the tools and strategies they need to excel. Course consists of 20 hours of study.

PSAT Boot Camp

Four hours of intense instruction right before test day reveals secrets to attack the Critical Reading, Math, and Writing sections of the PSAT.

Learn how to compose a good college list, present compelling applications and essays, communicate your unique match to each college, manage the application process timeline, prepare for stellar interviews, and much, much more. Parents are invited to attend the first session with their student. Grades 9-12.


ACT PREP
The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement test that is accepted by nearly every college as an alternative to the SAT. Just a few years ago only 15% of New York students took the ACT; now about 40% take it. This prep class will provide strategies for the English, math, reading, science and essay subtests, using actual ACT exams.

SAT II PREP
BIOLOGY SAT II REVIEW COURSE
This course provides a review of material tested on the SAT Subject Test in Biology E/M as administered by the College Board. Review topics include biological communities, populations, energy flow, biochemistry, cellular structure and cellular processes.

RITING THE FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY
This class is intended to prepare 8th and 9th graders for writing essays in high school.  Students will move through the process of writing a five paragraph essay, which is now a part of the SAT. The emphasis is on expressing ideas clearly and coherently. Class limited to 10 members.

2011 REGENTS PREP
Get ready for the New York State Regents exams. Our expert faculty will prepare students through analysis and review of past exams and other relevant materials. Classes for June 2011 Regents begin May 2011. Detailed schedule will be published in late March 2011.

About the Director, Lisa Itzkowitz
Lisa received her undergraduate degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and earned an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University, while employed full-time at American Express. Lisa held a variety of marketing positions at American Express, and was more recently the Director of Marketing at a Westchester-based marketing research firm.
