About the
Director
Igor
Stravinsky once said, “The trouble with music appreciation in general is
that people are taught to have too much respect for music; they should be
taught to love it instead.”
At the JCC Music
School,
our primary goal is to instill this love of music in all our students. We
provide the highest quality student-centered music education to children and
adults at all levels. With a talented faculty of conservatory graduates, we
focus on individual instruction in piano, guitar, voice, flute, recorder,
oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba,
violin, viola, cello, bass and percussion. Our programs also include classes
in music theory/history, composition, appreciation, and ensembles.
Music School Policies
Students may be enrolled for the semester (15 weeks) or the academic year
(30 weeks), unless otherwise indicated. In order to reserve a specific time
slot, you may submit a $150 nonrefundable deposit. Payment plans are also
available - please call for information. For children ages 5 and up.
Make-up classes are scheduled for lessons missed by the instructor or if
cancelled by the Music School due to inclement weather. Private lessons
missed by students may be rescheduled only when a minimum of 24 hours
advanced notice is given. Two make-up lessons per student per year will be
allowed and scheduling of make-up is at the discretion of the teacher.
Absences from group classes will not be made up.
Starting Dates
Classes begin the week of September 14, 2009 and they continue through
June 2010. There will be a total of 30 weeks for instruction.
