ACTlogoThe ACT is a curriculum-based achievement test that is accepted by nearly every college as an alternative to the SAT. This prep class will provide strategies for the English, math, reading, science and essay subtests, using actual ACT exams.

In partnership with Applerouth Tutoring, a group of highly talented, trained, and motivated tutors dedicated to helping students get into their schools of choice.

Applerouth tutors are carefully selected and every tutor undergoes an intensive training program where they learn the methods crafted by Applerouth founder, Jed Applerouth. Tutors include doctors, professors, athletes, valedictorians, salutatorians, and National Merit Scholars. Because learning and teaching are two different skills, all tutors are required to have prior teaching experience. In addition to weekly assignments, students receive detailed mock test results that allow us to track improvement, and enable us to alter lesson plans based on class-wide results.

Instructor for February 2015 class –  Alex Weiner, President and Lead Instructor, Breakaway Prep.
Alex has been tutoring students for over 20 years. He majored in American civilization at Brown, and holds an MBA from the Columbia Business School and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Stony Brook University. He has his Permanent Certification from the New York State Department of Education in multiple subjects for grade levels 7 – 12. He is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the New York State Association of College Admissions Counselors (NYSACAC), and the Westchester/Putnam/Rockland Counseling Association (WPRCA).

Which Test is Best for Your Student? SAT or ACT?

Get a feel for what test day will be like.
Take a practice, proctored SAT and ACT under test like conditions. After the exams are scored, our instructor will discuss the results and help students determine which test is best for them.

SAT: Sunday, November 2, 8:45am-1:00pm

ACT/SAT Combo Test: Sunday, December 7, 10:00am – 2:00pm

Pressed for time? JCC partner, Applerouth Tutoring Services has designed an SAT/ACT Combination Diagnostic Test to help students determine whether they should pursue the SAT or ACT path to college. The results from this test will help counselors, parents, and students make informed decisions about which test is best, However the best way to get a true feel for each test is to take a full length practice test.
