Arts & Talks is the JCC’s unique program for adults interested in the arts, current events, ideas, culture, conversation and more.  Arts & Talks offers adults in Westchester films screenings, book talks with the authors, expert speakers on a range of topics, panel discussions, community events like the annual Challah Bake and more.

Join us to explore culture and ideas, including thought-provoking conversations with leading experts and authors, and film discussions.

Understanding the Ballet: Swan Lake

Enhance your understanding of the classic romantic ballet Swan Lake, which will be performed this summer at the American Ballet Theatre in NYC.  Former Principal Dancer and JCC Dance School Director Kristen McGrew will teach you the language of balletic mime and the history of this tale of sorcery and tragic love, while sharing excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s lush score and numerous performances.

Courses and Classes

Course: Philosophies of Eastern Religions

This course will cover Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Shintoism, as followed in China, India and Japan. It will discuss the significance of these philosophies and religions on the political and cultural development of the PRC, India and Japan from their inception to the 21st century.

Thursdays throughout the year (10/11 Taoism; 11/8/18 Hinduism;  2/7/19 Shintoism. All @10:30am. $36 for the series ($10 per class)

Bam! Crack! Dot! Come learn the basics of this intriguing ancient Chinese tile game of luck and skill. You will learn the “western” style game of play as sanctioned by the National Mah Jongg League. Experienced instructor will provide all learning materials as well as the current NMJL card.

Volunteering: find out how to support JCCMW

ENGAGE: UJA-Federation of New York’s Engage Service Corp Chapter based at JCCMW coordinates volunteer opportunities for boomers across Westchester.

Adult Dance: JCCMW offers Adult Ballet and Tap Classes, Zumba Fitness and Israeli Folk Dancing for adults.

Adult Art:  JCCMW offers a range of classes for adults wishing to try their hand or develop their skills in media such as wheel throwing, life drawing, ceramic pottery, Open Studio Life Painting, and Holiday Workshops.
