Hip Hop

Hip Hop movement inspired by street dance and urban culture.  All movement and music is age appropriate.

We offer online registration for all classes. Please be aware that ALL NEW students require an evaluation by our Dance Director, Kristen McGrew. Please click here to request an evaluation so that we can ensure your child is placed at an appropriate level.  We will not be able to guarantee a place without an evaluation, and please note that refunds will be subject to our administrative fees (see our policies information page).

Please note: Sneakers worn on the street must not be worn in the Dance Studios. Socks without shoes are not permitted.in any of the studios.

Hip Hop 1

For the beginner student – 7-9 years. Explores a variety of jazz/Hip Hop dance styles, from traditional jazz technique, to contemporary music-video style. Class includes vocabulary, warm-up, and center floor work. Children are moved to the next level at the discretion of the instructor. Dress Code: Tank top or T-shirt, black leggings or jazz pants, black jazz shoes or studio-use sneakers. Hair pulled off the neck.

Tuesdays, 5:00pm – 5:45pm
Fall:  October 5 – January 18
Spring: January 25 – May 10
No classes:12/21, 12/28, 2/22, 4/12

Hip Hop 2/3

9 years and up.  This class will expand on Level 1, with Hip Hop, traditional jazz and theatre dance styles, with emphasis on presentation, proper dance technique, discipline and of course, fun! Students enrolling must have some prior dance experience and are urged to supplement their jazz Hip Hop training with a weekly ballet class. Dress Code: Tank top or T-shirt, black leggings or jazz pants, black jazz shoes or studio-use sneakers. Hair pulled off the neck.

Mondays, 5:05pm – 5:50pm
Fall:  October 4 – January 24
Spring: January 31 – May 16
No classes: 10/11, 12/27, 1/17, 2/21, 4/11

Hip Hop for Boys

7 years and up.  
This boys-only class is for students who are eager to learn Hip Hop!  Dancers will learn the basic techniques of Hip Hop and jazz.  Class will start with an energetic warm-up and stretching, then will progress to center combinations.  Hip Hop vocabulary will be taught. Dress Code: Sweatpants or shorts you can move in (no jeans), T-shirt, studio-use sneakers. Hair pulled off the neck.

Fall:  October 5 – January 18
Spring: January 25 – May 10
