We Need to Talk About Antisemitism

Join us for this important discussion with Rabbi Diana Fersko (author of We Need to Talk About Antisemitism) and Scott Richman of the Anti-Defamation League’s office covering New York and New Jersey. From the threat of violence to microaggressions and identity denial, antisemitism is both a personal and a global issue. This timely conversation between experts in the field will encompass the on-the-ground experiences of people encountering antisemitism and the trends seen across the country and the world. The panelists will also offer practical suggestions for fighting antisemitism.

All are welcome. This event is free, but RSVP is requested. Books will be available for purchase.

About the Panelists

Rabbi Diana Fersko is the senior rabbi at Village Temple in Manhattan. She served as national vice president of the Women’s Rabbinic Network and is a member of the New York Board of Rabbis. She received her rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, where she also earned a master’s degree in Hebrew literature. For more than a decade, Rabbi Fersko has been preaching and teaching about antisemitism. In her book, We Need to Talk About Antisemitism, she explores why we’re reluctant to discuss antisemitism—and empowers us to fight against it.

Scott Richman serves as the director for ADL’s largest regional office covering New York and New Jersey. He oversees the work of the region, which includes incident response, anti-bias education, legislative initiatives, educational programs, fundraising, and leadership development—all designed to fight antisemitism and combat hate in all its forms. This is reflected in his weekly national podcast called “From the Frontlines.” He is an experienced advocate dedicated to developing community partnerships and initiatives that provide justice, equality and fair treatment for all.

Cosponsored by the ADL and Temple Israel Center.

Sponsored in part by the Jewish Book Council.
