Revisiting Writing and Reading Poetry in Challenging Times
Join us once more for a reading of poetry presented by three returning poets. Presenters will share how experience shaped their writing with an exploration of their Jewish identity across different backgrounds.
About the Speakers
Harriet Shenkman is the author of Teetering and The Present Abandoned (Finishing Line Press). Her poetry awards include the Women Who Write International Poetry Contest. Her poetry appears in Comstock Review, The Berru Poetry Series, The Quartet Journal, and elsewhere. She is working on a collection entitled Bearing Witness. Recently, Harriet was named Poet in Residence here at JCCMW.
Marlena Maduro Baraf is the author of the memoir, At the Narrow Waist of the World, and co-author of Three Poets/Tres Poetas. Her stories and poems have been featured in Ms. magazine, HuffPost, On the Seawall, Poets Reading the News, and others.
Rabbi Pamela Wax is the author of Walking the Labyrinth (Main Street Rag, 2022) and the forthcoming chapbook Starter Mothers (Finishing Line Press). Her poetry has been featured in many literary journals and has won awards from Crosswinds Poetry Journal, Paterson Literary Review, Oberon Poetry Magazine and the Robinson Jeffers Tor House.
