This year, the main focus for our pre-competitive athletes has been building the foundational skills necessary to begin learning the more advanced skills needed to perform at the competitive level successfully. The main aspects have included strength training, flexibility, listening skills, technique, and form. For this level of gymnastics, we are looking more critically at the quality of the skill than the recreational level. A skill without proper technique and safety will not be considered mastered and will not receive credit on evaluations, just as they would not receive credit at a competition.
