Mission

To provide enrichment programs that are appropriate for children with ADHD, speech/language delays, Learning Disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, ASD or any other social and emotional problems. This is a non-sectarian program that provides scholarships and 1:1 assistants. All classes are personalized to support each child’s individualized needs.

Approach

A combination of teamwork, opportunity, and encouragement is all a child with special needs requires to be successful in the Special Needs Enrichment Services. With small classes, in a warm nurturing atmosphere, your child will succeed at those activities in which she or he wishes to participate. Self-esteem will be cultivated, creativity will be encouraged and friendships will be developed. Our staff includes a team of dedicated educators and social workers well known in their respective fields. Some of our programs are made available through grants from  NY OPWDD.

We offer 12 and 13 year olds a unique community service experience that can serve as a B’Nei Mitzvah project by doing volunteer work through our Special Needs Enrichment Services department programming.  In addition, high school students may commit as a volunteer to meet their community service requirements while enhancing their college resumes. All volunteers are required to commit to the entire school year season of their chosen program dates to ensure consistency for our participants.

Through a grant made possible by the Z.B. & J.E. Butler Foundation, selected teen volunteers will participate in the CLASSP/Special Needs Training Institute (SNTI), a program coordinated with JCC on the Hudson. Teens attend classes and work with children with special needs while earning one (1) college credit and a stipend upon completion.  The program culminates with the Annual Youth Leader Worker Conference in early Spring 2019.
