The Summer Arts Center – or SAC
The Summer Arts Center – or SAC – at the JCC is a unique day camp in Westchester, NY for creative kids. Campers can chose ART electives from drawing and painting (charcoal, pencil, water color, acrylics and tempera paints) ceramics, craft classes and advanced fine arts classes like wheel throwing, jewelry making and pop up cards. THEATRE electives include Musical Theatre, Acting, Improvisation, Acting Technique, Dialect and Theatre Games. DANCE electives include ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop.
The Summer Arts Center (SAC) is all about the joy of creative expression. Developed for the creative and independent child, who is interested in the arts, SAC provides a non-competitive, nurturing atmosphere in which children are encouraged to explore their creativity.
The SAC Day
Summer Arts Center campers begin each day with an energetic and fun-filled morning assembly, followed by 2 morning classes, lunch and 2 afternoon classes. We end each SAC day together, to enjoy snack and spend time to meet up with new and old friends. Instructional and recreational swim are offered everyday.
SAC Junior (2ND Graders and Up)
SAC Juniors will travel as a group with dedicated counselors. The SAC Juniors will have 4 classes each day, one of which will be instruction/free swim or gymnastics. The will all be exposed to beginner level classes in theatre, dance and fine art, giving them the opportunity to immerse themselves in all aspects of the arts.
All theatre majors will have the opportunity to perform in a musical revue this summer.
Campers who choose this option will spend most mornings in rehearsal and can choose any SAC classes for the afternoon, including other theatre classes, dance, art, ceramics, swimming, and gymnastics.
Full summer campers may choose to perform in one or both shows!
