Enhancing Music Talent and Coordination

Rhythm, rhythm, and rhythm! A syllabus-based program teaching age- and level-appropriate steps. Tap enhances musical understanding, coordination, and even math skills!

All classes are taught by experienced professional dancers in their field.

Evaluation Requirement

We offer online registration for all classes. Please be aware that ALL NEW students, with the exception of Tiny Tappers, require an evaluation by our dance director, Kristen McGrew. Please request an evaluation so that we can ensure your child is placed at an appropriate level. We will not be able to guarantee a place without an evaluation, and please note that refunds will be subject to our administrative fees (see our Policies and Information page)

ages five to seven

Tap 1

This beginner tap class will take the student through basics and more.

Dress Code

Black leotard, tights or leggings, and tap shoes. Hair tied back. No jewelry.

ages eight and older

Tap 2

This tap class is a progression of Tap I, including warm-up, across the floor work, and short combinations. Clarity of steps and rhythms will be a main focus, as well as, of course, fun!

ages 11 and older

Tap 3

By invitation only. This full-year class focuses on developing tap students into performers. On an invitation-only basis, dancers are taught repertory that encompasses the history of tap dance styles.

The instructor/choreographer will stage standard tap dances, as well as more contemporary rhythm tap pieces, which will showcase in JCCMW Outreach programs and the Annual WTD Concert. There is an additional performance fee (which covers costume and technical fees) for workshop students to perform in the Westchester Theatre of Dance Concert, Date coming soon.

Dress Code

Black shirt with pants or leggings (no jeans) and tap shoes. Hair tied back. No jewelry.
