College Starter: Admissions and Application Summer Bootcamp

5:00pm – 8:00pm
Review and finalize your college applications under the guidance of an expert college counselor and essay specialist. This program is intended for students entering their senior year of high school.
Don’t ruin your summer by waiting until the fall to begin college applications!
This course will help you:

  •  Develop a college List
  • Start and complete the major components of your Common Application
  • Complete your Extracurricular Activities Profile
  • Essay development: Outline, draft and edit your core college essay
  • Supplemental essay support for the “Why This College” essay
  • Letters of Recommendation

Pre-registration required  

Workshop Leader: Jeff Hirsch, a New York State certified school counselor and former teacher. As a school counselor, Jeff regularly speaks with college representatives and understands first-hand what colleges seek in applicants

College Application Essay Bootcamp 2019

Get a head start on the college application process with our three-day
personal essay boot camp. From topic selection to writing to editing,
each student, working at his or her own pace, will craft a narrative that
highlights academic and personal strengths. Includes brief pre-class
essay idea-generating assignment. Limit 8 students.

Workshop Leader: Bettina Weil is the founder of Weil College Advising, a college consulting firm based in Westchester, NY. Previously, she was the Director of College Programs at Yonkers Partners in Education, a non-profit organization in New York, and later served as the Assistant Dean of High School Partnerships and Academic Initiatives at the State University of New York. In both organizations, she was responsible for college transition, persistence and completion.
