Ivette Guzman has her certification in chair yoga and gentle yoga. We are so excited to have her back at JCCMW after having her sub in the fall. Ivette provides a kind and dynamic atmosphere in her class.

Yoga

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices and disciplines that originated in ancient India.

Yoga focuses on the centering of the breath and aligning the physical with the mental through gentle movement. This therapeutic practice utilizes props to customize the postures to the needs of each individual.

Body Sculpt

Body Sculpt classes offer handheld weight exercises and floorwork for abs, torso, and legs, plus stretching and relaxation exercises to finish. Participants will burn calories while increasing overall metabolism by building lean muscle.

About the Instructor

Fronda Sobel has been a part of the JCC for over 40 years, previously as director of the Group Fitness Department. She created the Body Sculpt class from her own experience in dance and fitness. Fronda says that this class is about pushing your boundaries and always being open to learning new things. "Exercise is the best pill there is."

Arnold Breisblatt has been practicing tai chi for over 30 years, working with people in community centers and nursing homes across the country. He says, "Tai chi movements flow from one to another. While performing these gentle movements, people keep their mind calm and alert, concentrating on the moves and reaching a state of being present in the moment.

Water aerobics is a form of aerobic exercise that takes place while immersed in the water. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere with music.
