Join Mimi Rocah, district attorney of Westchester County, and Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, MSNBC columnist and associate professor of history at The New School, for an important panel discussion about the sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas on October 7 and beyond.

About the Presenters

Miriam E. Rocah (Mimi) was elected District Attorney of Westchester County, New York, in November 2020. From 2001 to 2017, Mimi served as an assistant US attorney for the Department of Justice in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) where she rose to be a division chief and was involved in the prosecution of organized crime, gun trafficking, public corruption, sex trafficking, and child exploitation. She was awarded the DOJ Women In Federal Law Enforcement Leadership Award in 2016. DA Rocah was Pace University School of Law’s Distinguished Fellow in Criminal Justice and a legal analyst for MSNBC and NBC News prior to her time as DA. A native of Chicago, Illinois, DA Rocah is a graduate of Harvard University and New York University School of Law and clerked on the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Natalia Mehlman Petrzela is a historian of contemporary American politics and culture. She is the author of CLASSROOM WARS: Language, Sex, and the Making of Modern Political Culture (Oxford University Press, 2015), and FIT NATION: The Gains and Pains of America’s Exercise Obsession (University of Chicago Press, 2023). She is co-producer and host of the acclaimed podcast WELCOME TO YOUR FANTASY, from Pineapple Street Studios/Gimlet and the co-host of PAST PRESENT podcast. She is a columnist for MSNBC Opinion, a frequent media guest expert, public speaker, and contributor to outlets including the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, and the Atlantic. She is currently leading a Jews in US History curriculum project for the New York City Department of Education. Natalia is associate professor of history at The New School, cofounder of the wellness education program Healthclass 2.0, and a premiere leader of the mind-body practice intenSati. Her work has been supported by the Spencer, Whiting, Rockefeller, and Mellon Foundations. She holds a BA from Columbia and a PhD, from Stanford and lives with her husband and two children in New York City.
