The Benefits of Dance


Dance offers numerous benefits for adults, including improved physical fitness, enhanced coordination and balance, stress relief, and social connection. It also stimulates cognitive function, improves your mood, and provides a creative outlet for self-expression. In this lecture, Aaron Thao, director of the Dance School, will draw upon his medical background to show how dance can contribute to overall well-being and vitality at any stage of life!

About the Presenter

Originally from Minneapolis, Aaron Theo is the first Hmong-American professional ballet dancer and choreographer. He received his bachelor’s with honors distinction from Brown University in 2009 and continued his education at the University of Minnesota Medical School before pursuing a career in dance in 2011. Currently, Aaron serves as co-director for Hudson Ballet Theatre in New York, and BalletMAR in the UK, and as the director of the Dance School and Bendheim Performing Arts Center of the JCC Mid-Westchester.
