orange-grad-sep

Saturday, March 16, at 8:15 PM
Sunday, March 17, at 4:00 PM**

Join us for an unforgettable performance of The Once and Future Queen, a captivating interpretation of the timeless tale of Purim, intricately woven with themes of courage, resilience, and the challenges faced by today’s youth.

Through the graceful art of dance, we delve into the lives of Queens Vashti and Esther. Set against the backdrop of a kingdom in turmoil, their stories unfold, showcasing their unwavering bravery and resilience in the face of adversity.

In this innovative retelling, we draw parallels between the struggles of Vashti and Esther and the modern-day challenges encountered by children, particularly the pervasive issue of bullying. As the ballet unfolds, audiences are invited to reflect on the profound impact of bullying on young lives and the importance of standing up against injustice.

**The Sunday afternoon performance will feature a special talkback with the choreographers and composer after the performance.

The Once and Future Queen is choreographed by Ho-Shia Thao, Marika Brussel, and Jessica Whitehorne for the Dance School of JCC Mid-Westchester with original music by Mahlon Berv. Performed by students from JCCMW’s youth and adult divisions with professional dancers from Hudson Ballet Theatre.
